Ware says display of support helped him remain encouraging

ATLANTA (AP) a' Just seeing an image of Kevin Ware up and active again encouraged the Louisville Cardinals. Imagine the raise they're planning to get having Ware alongside them. Ware was greeted with loud cheers when he reached Louisville's resort Wednesday night, hours after health practitioners eliminated the sophomore to accompany the Cardinals to the Last Four. Ware flew with the team on its hour-long flight from Louisville, his broken right leg propped up on a second chair. He was in a as he entered the lodge, his mother behind him, and smiled and waved as he vanished into an elevator. "It is similar to he never left," Peyton Siva said, breaking into a laugh. "Words can't describe our feelings to have him straight back around. It just shows what a strong character he is." Ware broke his lower right leg in ugly fashion during Sunday's Midwest Regional final, the bone taking as he landed after wanting to stop a go. The Cardinals were shell-shocked by the injury a Ware's bone protruded six inches through the skin a' and it was only the encouraging words of Ware herself that helped the team give attention to the game. Louisville beaten Duke 85-63 to make an additional straight day at the national semifinals. Ware said he does not think Louisville could be in the Final Four if he'd lost his composure, and paid Luke Hancock for calming him down. Hancock applied Ware's chest while medical practioners worked on him on the sidelines. "He got me to that point where I truly had to put the suffering on hold," Ware said. "Once he said his prayer, I was kind of thinking the entire time, 'You can often be a crybaby about this or you're likely to get your team back and buy them in the proper mindset.' "Luke said his words, and I recently kept repeating, 'Y'all gotta move win this game.' I'm fine. ... It surely helped the team." During a two-hour surgery later that night, doctors restored the compound fractures that had led Ware's leg at an unusual position. He awoke the following day to find he had become an over night sensation, and the afterglow has not ceased. His progress and condition have already been included everyday on the Net, the major sites and specially social networking. Ware said he is seen from several of his idols, including Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Charles Barkley. The Louisville guard said he has also seen from first lady Michelle Obama and the Rev. Jesse Jackson. "I had no idea I would get this kind of attention," he explained. "I am some of those people who just loves to play baseball. Nevertheless the harm exposed a lot of individuals' eyes and I really appreciate most of the assistance. It really means a lot." On Wednesday, the Cardinals' practice center was surrounded by a phalanx of satellite trucks, and the meeting needs served Ware get an early jump on his rehabilitation as he shuttled back and forth between makeshift sets. "It will have a long time to obtain where I do want to be," Ware said. Not that he is worrying the work ahead. "I think God sets things in your life and you have to go through certain obstacles," he explained. "I just feel like these are obstacles that are planning to make me grow up for the better. It's planning to open my eyes to plenty of things I probably have not seen before." In the meantime, but, Ware a and the Cardinals a' have a subject to gain. In the city where Ware played senior high school ball, no less, after going from Nyc City. Ware plans to be always a full participant in arrangements for Saturday's game against Wichita State, including sitting on the bench. And the Cardinals can use new warm-up gear to recognize the sophomore, with Ware's No. 5 replacing the "S'' in the "Rise to the Occasion" T-shirts they have been carrying. "He is like a brother to all or any of us, and we're just happy he is here," mentioned Chane Behanan, Ware's best friend on the Louisville group.
