United had held first place since business expert Forbes started compiling the list in 2004, but have already been overtaken by Real in the latest ranks. Barcelona, the current Spanish category leaders, are in third place, while United`s Premier League opponents Arsenal are next before recently crowned German champions Bayern Munich. Real Madrid are valued at A2.15 billion ($3.3 billion), making the Spanish club the absolute most important sports business in the world, and United at A2.07 billion. Forbes explained in a "This is the first time since Forbes started valuing basketball teams in 2004 that Manchester United is not No.1 on the number. "Real Madrid has been consistently offering the greatest profits of any soccer team in the world, despite a powerful economic disaster in Spain. "With stars like Cristiano Ronaldo on the message, and instructor Jose Mourinho on the seat, Real Madrid has thrived underneath the control of billionaire leader Florentino Perez. "According to the year`s soccer appraisals, the top 20 teams are worth typically $968 million (A634 million), a growth of 26 per cent over last year." Rome Saint Germain`s David Beckham still tops the set of highest-earning sportsmen with earnings of A33 million, A29 million that came from recommendations.
