Did Djokovic win the battle (Monte Carlo) and (MAY) lost the war (Roland Garros)?

If you are this ahead of the game (given the scoreline @ Monte Carlo) AND your opponent is riding the false sense of security wave having ploughed through tomato cans at all preceding events, wouldn't it be far smarter to 'show' your cards at the very last moment EVEN if that entails deliberately losing at everything that precedes the big party to ensure the fake persona continues unabated?

Granted that wouldn't be a prudent move under normal conditions given Nadal's record on clay but these aren't regular conditions? When ALL you are looking at is ONLY as far as a SMALL stretch of land (clay) in a wide expanse of landscape (entire tour), the urgency sense is already at a heightened state. When you stir up the Hornet's nest in that condition, you are GUARANTEEING yourself the VERY best resistance the opponent is capable of.

Oh, what did you say? Nadal WILL dish his VERY best regardless? Heard of do or die? There's always a higher dimension in EVERYBODY no matter how good they are on their own. Most ALL of the time that gear is engaged SOLELY under REALLY extreme conditions. AND there are varying shades EVEN at that 'extreme condition' station. So IF Nadal is already at that station, he can STILL be bumped up even higher - within that exclusive stratosphere - resulting in a form that even he is unaware or even capable of - under 'other' conditions. There are numerous instances when such a spectacle appears to astonish not just the fans but the perpetrator too. Need proof? Try this: Nadal forcing a tie-break in the second set after being blown away in the first @ Monte Carlo. It's the same principle - in micro form.

Translation: Djokovic could have been more likely to win Roland Garros by losing the battle(s) [Madrid, Rome] - on purpose? When what you want lies under the lion's nose, being crafty will trumph being physical. Besides, you have already produced this movie once - in 2011 - when you won ALL the battles (won Madrid and Rome over Nadal) and lost the war. Granted you lost to Federer and not Nadal but that's because you beat Federer @ Dubai and the AO that year. And for the purposes of this post that's the ONLY reason you didn't win Jack before 2011 as you were beating up on clowns BEFORE the Slams.

Bottom line: STOP competing at everything not called Slams. Heck, even practice under closed doors and everything else.
