Fulham boss Martin Jol and midfielder Giorgos Karagounis have both indicated they are keen on agreeing a new deal for the Greek star.
The 36-year-old is out of contract this summer but, after an impressive campaign for the Cottagers, he is likely to be offered a one-year extension to stay.
"Time is on our side, of course, because he will not go for £5million or £6m to another club," Jol said. "But, on the other hand, I do not want to see him go to other clubs. He is happy here."
Karagounis, who joined Fulham on a free transfer from Panathinaikos in September, has also expressed his desire to stay after a better-than-expected spell in the Premier League.
He said: "Fulham is a great team to play for. The club have impressed me. To compete in the Premier League is a joy for every footballer. It is one of the toughest leagues in the world. It is better than I imagined."
