Liverpool are again in danger of being beaten in the Premier League by their fiercest and closest rivals. Everton placed above Liverpool last season and are looking to rub salt into the wound by doing it again. David Moyes has inspired a shift in power between the two Mersyside clubs, something Rogers must look to correct if he wants to be successful at Liverpool.
Rogers' latest addition to his squad, Daniel Sturridge, has made a positive start to his Liverpool career, but should Liverpool disappoint again this season, the Irish manager will have to look at making some changes to his squad.
With regards to the £20million rise in Liverpool's debts, Brendan Rogers will have to manage his money well. Who are his three best options this summer, with regards to value for money and talent?
The Senegalese midfield enforcer has a measly £3.5 million release clause and this will surely raise alarm bells come the summer transfer window. Managers will be queuing up in an attempt to sign the 25 year old because he is such a damn bargain. £3.5 mill is nothing these days and for a talented, strong player like Diame Rogers would do very well to get him.
Liverpool do lack a bit of steel in the centre of the park and their defence can be left a little exposed at times because of this. Diami can also make powerful runs forward and as he showed against Chelsea earlier this season, he can find the back of the net too.
Currently the top scorer in the Dutch league for Vitesse Arnhem, Bony has been labelled 'the new Didier Drogba'. Wilfried does hail from the same land as Ivorian legend Drogba but his talents are yet to be tested in one of Europe's better leagues. However with his return of 26 goals in 24 games this season the 24 year old is on fire and a £10 million asking price would suggest a bargain.
He is a powerful figure and would offer Rogers a plan B if his style of flowing football was not winning the game as Bony offers an aerial threat and more direct attacking potency. If he is the new Drogba £10, 000, 000 is a small price to pay.
Transfermarkt suggests Honda is worth £17.5 million, however he is going for free the end of the season as Honda has allowed his contract at CSKA Moscow run out.
Searching for pastures new, Honda would be a very welcome addition to the Premier League. Honda is a very talented, versatile attacking midfield player and has long been on the radar of top European clubs. Boasting 10 goals and 6 assists so far this season his passing and dead ball execution would give Gerrard a run for his money.
Players this good do not fall into your lap (for free) very often and Rogers will have to draw up an enticing contract for Honda if he wants to beat any opposition for his signature. As a is a very popular player in Japan he would be a guaranteed shirt seller for Liverpool FC as well as a top addition to their squad.
