The official failed to issue a red card to Wigan's Callum McManaman in his last outing despite his horror tackle on Newcastle's Massadio Haidara.
The decision to drop the whistler comes after the controversial game at the DW Stadium in the last round of Premier League games.
Halsey did not even award a free-kick for McManaman's knee-high tackle on Haidara and later claimed his view was blocked.
He told the FA he would have awarded a red card if he had spotted it but as assistant ref Matthew Wilkes is believed to have seen the incident, McManaman escaped retrospective punishment.
